HYMENOPLASTY
Hymen (virginity membrane) has the same place in all women. It is a curved small membrane behind the small lips of vagina, right next to the entrance which circumfers the opening and surrounded with blood vessels. Hymen is generally 2-3 centimeters inside and 2-3 milimeters thick. The pain and the bleeding in first intercourse is caused by the tense muscles and mental state, which constricts or closes the entrance of the vagina.

How a hymenoplasty operation is done?
Stitching directly can cause infection. For this reason, new techniques such as restoration are developed.
Restoration takes place in two ways:
- Attaching hymen to the vaginal walls like a web which narrows down the pathway, can be done 2-3 days before a wedding.
- Patching the hymen with tissue taken from the walls of vagina in flap technique. Flap operation needs to take place at least 3 months before a wedding.
Local or general anesthesia is available as desired. The procedure lasts for about 30 minutes.
After the hymenoplasty operation
Dressing should be applied. Pain and bleeding is rarely seen. Full recovery takes place in 7 days.
Patient can return to their normal life immediately after the operation. An examination should be performed after 15 days. Stitches dissolve and disappear after approximately 1,5 months.
