PROMINENT EAR
In prominent ear aesthetic operations, non scarring techniques either surgical or non-surgical developed by modern medicine are used.
PROMINENT EAR
The ear is the element that completes the aesthetic appearance of the face. Prominent ear problem; which usually can run in families is a condition that the ear makes a larger angle than it should be. The auricula should make an angle at an average of 1 cm away from the skull. When the distance is greater, an anomaly called prominent (protruding) ear occurs. This problem, which is an aesthetic problem, can lead to a shortage of self-confidence in both childhood and adulthood period, and may adversely affect psychology and social communication.
The cartilage that gives shape to the ear causes prominence in two reasons:
- The cartilage located in the pit above the ear nipple is larger than normal and pushes the ear outward
- The cartilage in the upper part of the anterior face of the ear is flattened where it should make the normal fold.
Although these two problems are generally coexisting, the problem may be chronic when the ear is large.
Which age ear surgery should be performed?
Ear structure development is usually completed at the age of 5 to 6 years. Unfortunately, the oldest method for curing prominent ears is ear moulds and usually does not give efficient results even if they are used since infancy. Therefore, ear ear aesthetics and ear ear surgery at an early age provides an important advantage.
What is cosmetic ear surgery (otoplasty)?
In prominent ear aesthetic operations, non scarring techniques either surgical or non-surgical developed by modern medicine are used.
Surgical Method
Deformation is eliminated by laser and laproscopic applications. The flattened cartilage of the ear is folded back and fixed again. The cartilage over the niple of the ear is minimized. At the end of the operation, if the skin behind the back of the twisted ear is abundant this skin is taken off.
Non-Surgical Method
One of them is the technique applied with the ropes without the incision. Surgical ropes are placed in the ear with small holes in the back of the ear to shape the ear without cutting or bleeding. It is generally more effective in people who are younger and therefore cartilage tissues are not yet hardened in .
If the cartilage tissues are too hard and thick, the strength of the threads placed in the ear may become insufficient over time and the ears can recover. Therefore, surgical method is recommended.
