This procedure is done to people whose calves end up looking disproportionate to their thighs due to trauma, accident or deformation. The latest techniques in plastic surgery are used. Patients can return to their normal life and their psychology together with their self confidence improves.
What are the details of this operation?
An examination by a surgeon is made before the operation to determine the proper type of prosthesis. Prosthesis’ can have a lenght of 10-30 and a width of 5-15 centimeters, and their purpose is to strenghten calf muscles. Silicone implants are placed underneat the calf muscles through incisions made at the back of the knees. This step is followed with aesthetic stitches.
Local or sedation anesthesia is available. The patient needs to rest for a day at the hospital.
Recovery period
Pressurized dressings are applied for the first few days.
If stitches are not the dissolvable type, they are removed after 7 days.
The patient can perform normal activities after 2 days.
After the first month, the patient starts physical exercises.
Temporary sensation loss can occur right after the operation and can last for a few days.
Scar tissue, empurpling, edema are rarely encountered.
