Due to aging and the effect of gravity, the skin starts to lose its elasticity with time.  The first place where the effects can be seen are the eyes. Upper eyelid drooping due to sagging muscles, lower eyelid bulging due to excess fat, ‘baggy’ look formation and discoloration in and around the eyes start to form. These factors leave the person looking aged, sick and tired than usual while reducing eyesight and distorting the aesthetics.

Is eye lifting suitable for me?

Saggy eyelids and a ‘baggy’ look can be seen in people over the age of 30. Anyone over the age of 30, without a serious eye issue and/or chronic ilness can have an eyelift operation. The excess skin problem over the eye is succesfully remedied with this operation, creating a stunning look.

Bulging fat tissue is either distributed around the cheek area or removed with the saggy skin in this procedure. It is advised to have the operations for both eyelids simultaneously regarding the fact that upper eyelids are connected with the eyebrows and lower eyelids are connected with the cheeks. Which, as a result, the patient will have a better vision and aesthetics, healthier look owing to the corrections made in their anatomy.

The operation takes place in hospitals, done by plastic surgeons with the patients under local or general anesthesia. If desired, upper and lower eyelid operations can be done simultaneously. The procedure takes around 1-1,5 hours. Stitches are done along the lines of eyelashes and removed after 3-5 days, leaving no visible scars.

Recovery starts to take place in the first week. The patient might not be able to close their eyes for a few days. Inflamation and discoloration around the eye area, accompanied with sensitivity to light and frequent watering of the eyes might present themselves. After a week, the patient can return to their normal life, and even start using contact lenses.

Eyelid operations rarely needs revisions. In spite of the effect of gravity, the results persist for life and sometimes depending on the individual, might need to be renewed every few years.
